Book Club – A Short for the Toronto 24 Hour Film Challenge

April 30th, 2011

I had a great time working Key Makeup on a short film for the Toronto 24 Hour Film Challenge this April!  ‘Book Club’ had some creative makeup opportunities for me.  Here is Pat, one of the actors, as a Demon complete with horns!  The film screened at the new Bell Lightbox Centre in Toronto.  You can view the complete film here: Book Club

Up-lighting – Clinique

April 22nd, 2011

This is another winner in my search for the perfect illuminator!

Up-lighting is a lightweight, sheer liquid that easily glides over skin to give you an instant golden glow (I tried the Natural shade).
It comes in an easy pump bottle so that you can get exactly the perfect amount of product and mixes well with foundation or moisturizer but I recommend just using this one on its own!

The product is oil free and comes in Natural, Bronze or Blush shades.

Girl meets Pearl – Benefit Cosmetics

April 22nd, 2011

Benefit is one of my favourite beauty companies, and I recently got to try girl meets pearl.
I’ve been on the hunt to find a good illuminator that doesn’t leave you with disco face. This product is a dream!
It has a creamy texture – not too liquidy, not too dense – and leaves a beautiful golden pink glow anywhere that you apply it.
It is versatile enough so that you can pat it on over makeup, strategically brush it in select areas or even mix it into foundation or tinted moisturizer. With ingredients like sweet almond, sesame seed oil and chamomile it feels as good as it looks!

Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss – Lise Watier

April 22nd, 2011

I don’t try Lise Watier products that often and yet I am always intrigued by their beauty catalogues each season and usually browse the counter when I am in our local store.
I came across this crayon during the summer and was really surpised by how great it was.  Another oversized pencil, the product itself glides on similar to a balm with great colour (not too much or too little), lots of moisture and gloss.  It looks great worn alone of even better overtop of lipstick.
Usually Lise Watier releases new colours based on their seasonal theme – keep an eye out for them!

Chubby Stick – Clinique

April 22nd, 2011

I’m just starting to warm up to the array of makeup products that Clinique has to offer.  One of the first ones that I ever bought was the Chubby Stick.  It’s a super moisturizing lip balm (made with mango and shea butters), with just a hint of colour and packed as an oversized crayon.    I really like the way it feels on my lips and they stay moisturized for hours. I think its perfect for on the go daytime use, or  if you like no fuss in your makeup.

Available in 8 shades: Super Strawberry, Whoppin’ Watermelon, Chunky Cherry, Mega Melon, Fuller Fig, Whole Lotta Honey, Richer Raison, and my favourite Graped-Up!
